About The Artist

Felicia Funderburk is a self-taught mosaic artist residing in the beautiful South Bay area of California.

Focusing on the 'tiny details' throughout her twenty year career as a neonatal intensive care nurse, she approaches art with the same attitude toward Time and Humanity -- that Life possesses a kind of qualified eternity: the past and future, birth and death, meet as in the completion of a circle. 

Great Art, like Life, is as elegant in its structure as in its detail; but, structure is so wedded to detail as to be hard to discover.  Detail in art must seem natural, inevitable; the larger design which makes this possible must be at once muscular and unobtrusive, artful and artless. 

With practice, we learn to see the invisible, and to hear beneath the surfaces that quiet pulse of universal meaning which is the sublime secret of great art.  The good artist has two identities -- individuality and humanity -- and cannot produce well unless she reveals both.

Felicia creates unique contemporary mosaics for private, architectural and gallery settings using only the finest materials imported from around the world.  She invites you to share in her enthusiasm and appreciation for the beautiful, ancient art of mosaic.
